Spending another eventful afternoon
together, Katie Holmes was spotted with Suri in New York City on Monday (August
20).
The 33-year-old mother held tightly on to
her six-year-old daughters hand while the two headed to Make Meaning to decorate
crafts and treats.
In personal news, the “Dawson’s Creek”
actress recently took Suri to her hometown of Toledo, OH where the pair visited
family members and shopped at a local mall.
Despite reports that Tom Cruise kept
Katie away from her family, a source is saying that the former couple visited
her hometown on multiple occasions.
“To say Tom prevented anything is a gross
lie. He not only didn't prevent [Suri having a relationship with Holmes' family]
but encouraged it and paid for it!" the source explains. "The first several
birthday parties Katie and Tom threw for Suri had the family and cousins come to
town – all expenses were paid for by Tom."
Divorce is never a pleasant experience,
but Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are staying civil through the process in the
interest of their daughter.
According to an insider, the "Knight and
Day" stud and his "Batman Begins" ex-wife "are talking. They are both going to
do what's best for Suri."
To that end, Tom has been granted
visitation time to take the six-year-old to the Hamptons and Disneyworld, though
Katie has primary custody and has been touring New York City with her little
one.
Coming up next month, Suri will begin
private school in Manhattan which is a departure from TomKat's original plan to
homeschool her. “She's enrolled to have that sort of stability and consistency
in her life."
Continuing the mommy-daughter tour of New
York, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise headed to the Museum of Modern Art today
(August 6).
The "Dawson's Creek" star wore a light
button-down shirt with jeans, while her 6-year-old daughter looked like a doll
in a white lace-ruffled dress.
The two had a drink in the park after
their time at MoMA. Suri slid down the marble and threw coins into the pond
while her mother chatted on the phone.
Her summer fun will soon be over, though.
Several outlets report that the "Batman Begins" star has enrolled her child in
the elite, ultra-exclusive Avenues School which will open for the first time in
the fall.
The school is known as "The World School"
and will be international with a global learning perspective. Avenues will have
20 satellite campuses around the world, allowing traveling Tom Cruise to
exercise visitation while Suri is in school.
Absent from the school's mission is any
particular religious bent. That should appease the 50-year-old dad, whose
Scientology views vary greatly from Katie's Catholic upbringing.
Ready for a celebratory night on the
town, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were spotted heading out of their New York
City abode on Saturday evening .
Tom and Katie arrived in NYC earlier in
the morning with daughter Suri after having been situated in Vancouver, Canada
as Cruise worked on his new movie "Mission: Impossible IV".

for The ReelzChannel world premiere of "The Kennedys" in Beverly Hills,
California on Monday evening (March 28).
Having been dropped by the History
Channel, the work focusing on the the former U.S. President and his family
boasts the beautiful Miss Holmes as Jacqueline Kennedy while Greg Kinnear plays
John F. Kennedy.Of the decision to let another network premiere "The Kennedys,"
a rep from the History Channel told press.
"While the film is produced and acted
with the highest quality, after viewing the final product in its totality, we
have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand.
We recognize historical fiction is an important medium for storytelling and
commend all the hard work and passion that has gone into the making of the
series, but ultimately deem this as the right programming decision for our
network."
